The Spirit of "la Caixa"

Following the expansion experienced by the canonical disciplines of the so-called fine arts in the 1960s, and the questioning by numerous artists of the status of these disciplines as independent categories, contemporary art reached what critic Rosalind Krauss has cal led the 'postmedium condition'. The post-rnediurn condition is one of the cornmon attributes of the works from the Collection of contemporary Art "la Caixa" Foundation brought together in this exhibition. Most of the works featu red in Daclassifiad Objacts are sculptural, but they are a long way from the canonical notion of sculpture: pieces rnay incorporate photographs, drawings, andlor painting.
